I LOVE NEW YORK! :)

You have to love the fact that New Yorkers (regardless of what part of it they are from) will hear the word "SNOW" mentioned remotely in a weather forecast and suddenly all they talk about is that there is a blizzard coming that may end life as we know it. In reality we will probably get a few inches - maybe a foot - but they talk about it like it's the end of the world. People, as I write this, are flocking to the store to stock up on "staples". You know: eggs, milk, bread, ice cream, cookies, beer - you know.....the essentials that they can't make it one day without. I think somewhere along the way people around here forgot that we actually pay people to plow the snow off the roads.

I was on the phone with a call center person from my bank (the call center is in Texas) and she was saying "my goodness....you guys are supposed to get tons of snow....what are you going to do?" I told her that I was going to stay inside until my husband shoveled the driveway and cleaned off the cars and then after the snowplows went by I would consider going out - as long as I don't have to drive. :)

Busy, busy, busy
I apologize for being absent from LJ - I've been very busy doing lots of things that had to get done. One big project - I had to reorganize my billing filing system so I could get out all the info needed for taxes. I have also done a bunch of stuff around the house cleaning wise and I have done tons of baking which my co-workers love. (I like to bake the stuff but give it to them so I don't eat it all) :)

I have been trying to be better at some things I used to do but have let "slide" in the past few years. I am now playing piano again and it feels really good. I'm amazed how much I remember and can actually do after not doing it for 3 years (I had 3 years of lessons then took time off) so that is nice. I want to progress in that. I had also motivated myself to get myself in shape so I have been eating really healthy food and working out. I have also started doing more crafts. I made a Valentine's Day decoration for myself, my mother, and my mother-in-law and then I made a St. Patrick's Day one for myself and my MIL (my mom doesn't really celebrate that holiday). I now have two shirts cut out that are ready to be sewn together and a scarf that is half made. Busy, busy, busy. :)

I shall try to be more consistent with my entries - I enjoy reading all of your entries so I should be better about putting something out there for you to read. Whether or not you find it interesting....that I can't guarantee. :)

Things that make you go HMMMMMM...
I'm not sure where I got this but it is definitely funny.

1. Can you cry under water?

2. How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

3. Why do you have to "put your two cents in" but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where is that extra penny going?

4. Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

5. Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

6. What disease did cured ham actually have?

7. How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

8. Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

9. If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

10. Why are in IN a movie but you're ON TV?

11. Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

12. Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see you naked anyway.

13. Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

14. Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp that no human would eat?

15. If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about it?

16. Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane?

17. If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can he fix the hole in the boat?

18. Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours? They're both dogs!

19. If Wiley E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

20. If corn oil is made from corn and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

21. If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

22. Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

23. Why did you just try singing those two songs above?

24. Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

25. Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Miss me?
Well, I am back after a few days of not really having a chance to use the computer. It seems that when my husband is home, I seldom get the computer. That's okay I guess since I use it the rest of the time. :)

Not much has been going on. I survived the run-in with my father-in-law who has since pretended that nothing has happened. Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day with my mother-on-law working on craft projects and we had a good time.

My dog went to the vet today for a check up and rabies shot and for the first time in my life I made it out of there only spending $48! I was amazed! Usually it costs me over $200 so it was a good day. Plus the dog is in good health aside from what the vet calls "showing extreme signs of advanced age". I guess she's trying to tell my my 10 year old "puppy" is in her golden years (her breeds usual life expectancy is only 11). For now, she is still being a happy dog - doesn't run or play much but she seems happy - especially at meal time.

Speaking of the puppy dog - she needs a walk and I have some calls to make and bills to pay online so I best get to it since I've been procrastinating since I got back home.

Here's a rambling train of thoughts...
It's been a good day (yesterday was too as a matter of fact). I spent a good portion on Saturday sleeping so when I got up on Sunday morning, I was ready to go. My husband and I went to Joann Fabrics (well I went to look around - he went to keep my spending under control) I was good and didn't buy anything. I was just in the mood to browse. After that, I made some cookies and watched a movie and worked on the computer. Today I worked in the morning and ran errands in the afternoon. Now, I'm waiting for my husband to get home so I can make dinner.

Everyone here is going bonkers because they are forecasting snow for Tuesday - Wednesday. Well stop the presses! They don't even know how much yet and everyone at work is like "I'll be waiting for your call from the snow chain (list of who calls who to say work is closed). It doesn't benefit me at all because I work part-time and if they close, I have to go in another day to make up the hours.

You would think snow is rare here - it's not actually. It's just that this winter we have had a whole 1/2 inch so far. This is the first time in my life that I remember not having any snow this late into the season.

I just checked the forecast and they are saying a possibility of 9+ inches. It's about time winter got here. I can't imagine going to the grocery store tomorrow. Ever notice that some people think snow will mean the end of the world and they can't survive one day without 8 pounds of chicken, milk, bread, and of course, ice cream? You know, the necessities. I mean it's not like we are in the town with over 9 FEET of snow. No thanks - I'll stay here! We will simply forage in the freezer and pantry - if it's not there, we pick it up after the 9 inch "blizzard" has gone by. :)

One tired little bunny...
What makes me a tired little bunny? Well, my husband and I had company for dinner last night which was good. It was a guy we work with and his wife. We all had a good time with lots of laughter.

The only problem was, they showed up at 8pm - expected at 6:30. Dinner was still good (thankfully all things that could be kept warm). We had a good meal, and played Scategories (which I love) but by the time they left, it was....after 1am. We cleaned up the kitchen and were in bed by 2am.

Now, I am normally one to be in bed by 10ish so this was really late for me. The only other time I stay up this late is when my sister comes for a visit. We woke up around 8ish and my husband (who is normally up at 5:30) was refreshed and ready for the day..you know...cause he "slept in". I told him it didn't count unless he went to bed at normal time. Me, I didn't sleep well and now have been run down all day.

We have dinner with the inlaws in about 20 minutes so I guess I better down a caffinated soda. I also have to go walk the dog so the freezing temps should help to wake me up. Thank goodness it's the weekend because if this were a weekday, I would have been asleep at my desk! :)

I'm off for now. Hopefully a good dinner and an early night will help me have a more productive day tomorrow.

In case you were wondering....
Just in case you have been losing sleep over this - I have the answer. Yes, according to a reliable source (a.k.a Google's test) I apparently have psychic powers. Quite strong ones at that (of course I already knew that - did you?) If you did, maybe you are psychic too. :) Actually I was quite amazed to see how many questions I had correct. Lucky guessing most likely. Of course, I don't take that stuff too seriously but it is interesting. I actually had a lot of the "what is behind this gray card" questions right which surprised me. Who knew? Now, if I concentrate hard enough maybe I can come up with the winning lotto numbers and become rich. Nah, I'll probably just get a headache. :)

Good point though - why aren't psychic people rich? If they can "see the future" they should be able to come up with the right combination of numbers every now and then. If I ever run into a "real psychic" I shall have to ask them that.

For now, I shall make a prediction.....ready for this???? Here goes...."tomorrow morning a large truck will come and pick up my garbage sometime between 6am and noon" Wow, pretty "deep" isn't it? How much you want to bet that will happen? How do I know this? It's a psychic's secret (that and the secret of the guy who picks up the trash every week) Oops...have I said too much...that will be $5 :)

Current Location: my computer of course, how else could I type this? :)

Who ordered the sub-artic freeze?
Okay, who ordered the insanely freezing cold weather we are having? I know I didn't. Hmmmm...was it my sister...questionable...but I don't think so as it would mean having to chop up tons of wood to heat her house. Maybe the spirit of Frosty is summoning up these frigid temperatures as we have had a whopping 1/2 inch of snow so far this season and he's not happy with that. All I know is it is so cold that when I tried to take my dog out she just looked at me like "you've got to be kidding me...I can hold it" and she promptly curled up into a ball and fell asleep.

I think I'm going to go put my warmest sweater on and try to thaw out - maybe I'll be able to type a little better when I can feel my fingers. :)

Sending out warm wishes to all of those who are freezing!

Hmmm...
Ever have that restless feeling that you should be doing something but simply have no idea what it is you should be doing? I hate that feeling.

I feel like I should be doing something but 1) have no idea what and 2) am too tired to do whatever it is I should be doing anyway. So, is this necessarily a bad thing?

I guess it's boredom or something. I have this insane urge to go shopping for craft stuff but as I have TONS of stuff to do, it would be silly to buy more. I just want to go out. I won't of course (mainly because the people at the local craft stores already think I'm nuts since I am there so often but also because my husband might disown me if I spend any more money on craft items.

What is the world coming to? I simply need new material. Why? So I can wash it and fold it up nicely then stuff it into yet another tupperware container to be used someday...maybe...by my children (of course they aren't born yet so it's going to be awhile). Best of intentions - worst of actual crafting skills. Yet, I realize it....I am a pack rat. A neat and organized one but a pack rat none the less. I have too much stuff and not enough space to put it in.

Of course, all of you out there with this addiction are simply nodding and thinking about your own piles of "crafts to make". There is always something else there that is new and exciting. Maybe I have inspired someone to go to the store to add to the madness. If so, then my work here is done. If not, well, what's stopping you? Get out there and buy something crafty! Would you pick me up something neat while you are out? Thanks :) Happy crafting!!! :)

Can it be working?
I have finally returned after having a broken computer for a mad amount of time. Stupid computer! The positive thing is I FIXED THE PRINTER!!!! My husband was working on it - no lie - for over three days! I spoke with a help tech guy online on Tuesday night which was no help at all and last night I just tried random things until the stupid thing started working. YEA FOR ME!!! :) My husband was absolutely amazed - not sure why though - I can fix things. :) Maybe he's surprised because I more often break them then call him to fix them. Anyway, it was a good way to end last night and it is still working this morning so it's all good.

Now I am off to the freezing cold world to walk to dog and then I head off to work. Let the fun begin!!!

Why is it?
Why is it that every time I want to post a journal entry the stupid computer breaks and requires extensive repair? I'm starting to think this thing doesn't like me. Maybe I shall threaten to rip out all of its circuits - maybe that will make it think twice before crashing yet again. :)

Well, it appears to be working now which is good. Unfortunately, what I wanted to post has since left my mind. I guess that is why authors jot things down before they forget them forever.

I believe I shall journey to the kitchen to make some dinner since nothing exciting is coming to mind to share with you. I do apologize. I guess I'm just tired tonight.

Until next time......
